Yndisleg herbergi, uppbúin rúm og liðlegur staðarhaldari. Sameiginleg baðherbergi og sturtur og ekki nógu mikill þrýstingur á þeim. Fallegt umhverfi vegur vel upp á móti því.

We have a room with two single beds, and two bunk beds. The beds are comfortable. It’s quite roomy and warm. The breakfast was quite nice with quite many choice of food from 7-10am. Few of the accommodations of similar price range include breakfast. The facility is a little bit run down, with a few dim or flashing light in the common area. One of the toilets on our floor got a sink with dirty water, and the bathroom next to the gym had bad smell. Overall it’s good value for money.

We came before the season started and stayed for one night. The hostel was empty, we were the only guests, which is a pity. The whole building was clean, the bathrooms are big enough and there is also a big kitchen and dining room. The price was great for this stay. I would recommend. Thanks for the stay!

The hostel is and old boarding school and has still all the sport equipment and piano. It is like to go on school trip. My son was excited to make gymnastic every morning and evening in the gym. The hostel is very clean (has shoos off policy at the main entrance door) the rooms are big, with enormous panoramic windows. Is is quite isolated from other buildings so in case you may see also northern lights from there. Sleeping quality is excellent. The shared toilets are in every floor, the showers are downstairs everything very clean. The kitchen is large with a lot of tables, but only one cooker and could be a bit more equipped. The location is perfect for visit the Golden triangle, but the closest supermarket is around 20 km, so make shopping before arrive at the hostel. The girl from Czech Republic working there was very friendly and helpful. We spend nice days there and I can recommend it.

Je n'ai pas pour habitude de laisser des avis, mais notre séjour n'a pas correspondu aux autres avis.
La chambre que nous avons eu était sale. Une odeur de peinture, de la poussière sur les meubles et sur le sol. Les murs sont mal isolés donc on entend les bruits. La salle de bain quant à elle était aussi sale avec une paroi cassée. Point positif la cuisine est bien équipée.

Loved the vibe there! It's a hostel made out of boarding school. Rooms are clean and there's plenty of kitchen equipment there. The only thing is there are only two showers (or I just found two) but up to 20 rooms. We saw the northern lights just outside the hostel!

To be honest, we didn't really know what to expect from Ljosafosskoli hostel whenever choosing to stay there. Yes, it is a hostel, but not quite compareable to the ones you can find in big cities. It's an old school that was converted into a hostel. A lot of features still remain, like a big gymnasium where you can play football.||||So, once we arrived, we were greeted by the nice guy working at the reception. He showed us the facilities and explained everything we might need to know.||We got a private room on the first floor, which was small, but neat and clean. The bathrooms are shared, but theres enough for all guests, we never had to wait or que.||||Most people tend to prepare their own meals in the shared kitchen in the basement. That might be because there's no restaurant onsite or in a walking distance. The next restaurants or supermarkets are a 15 minute drive in Sellfoss. They provide kitchen utilities and basic supplies like oil, flour, salt and so on. Be prepared to wait a bit for your turn to cook during the main dinner time.||||We totally loved this place, it had a really unique feeling, plus the great location (very close to Thingvellir NP and also less than an hour to the other Golden Circle sights) makes it a very good place to stay. The surroundings of the hostel are very scenic as well. If you're coming in winter and are a bit lucky (like we were), this is a great area for seeing the northern lights!||||Would totally recommend staying in Ljosafosskoli to anybody who doesn't mind a shared bathroom and cooking for themselves.
