We arrived quite early in Húsavik and took a walk around the harbor before checking into the hotel a little later. On our stroll along the quay we decided to have dinner later at Gamli Baukur which I had read about beforehand.
Considered booking a table, but didn't and went there to eat at 6 pm. There was plenty of space, so we got a nice table. Great service both upon arrival and later. We ordered the fish of the day, and a hamburger, plus 2 cans of their own beer. Very nice premises and by Icelandic standards it's not that expensive either, and I would probably go back there if the opportunity arises. You pay when you leave, and the cash register is on the right (past the bar) when you enter, while our table was on the left. I have to say I appreciate the Icelandic system where you pay what it costs and don't have to consider tips and such. Very relaxing and pleasant in every way.
11900 ISK in total for the two of us.
Four or five stars? I decided on 5 stars, not because the food was so outstanding, but because it was a nice place with very good service.

Sarà che la giornata (luglio) era eccezionale con sole, caldo, una brezza che manco in Liguria in primavera, ma l'esperienza è stata molto positiva, non me l'aspettavo... innanzitutto la struttura è davvero unica, presentandosi tutta di legno con ampia zona dehors con vista sulla baia e il molo (e già questa vale la sosta). Ma anche il cibo devo dire ci ha molto colpiti...piatti tipici, ben cucinati, saporiti e con un tocco che li ha resi diversi rispetto ad altri analoghi mangiati altrove nello stesso paese. Servizio rapido e cortese. Appare molto ben frequentato. L'interno non sembra molto grande. L'acqua te la devi servire da solo alzandosi ogni volta e andando ad una specie di tanica (lasciata al sole...). Il bagno era pulito, ma senz'altro è migliorabile. Dato l'afflusso di gente, come dire, non ti puoi proprio rilassare. Mangi, e ti fanno capire che è ora di andare. Tavoli con panche e sedie in legno. Non proprio il massimo della comodità. Prezzi lievemente più alti della media, ma se la giornata consente di stare fuori, ne vale la pena. Lo consiglio.

海鮮都很好吃，推薦魚和淡菜👍，前菜在虎蝦和椰子蝦之間糾結最後選了椰子蝦，但是椰子蝦是蝦裹著椰子麵包粉炸的有點小失望，裡面還有一個夾心有剝皮辣椒😆。但是都算是好吃的，醬汁也都蠻用心！！價格相比環島其他家也很便宜，來觀鯨可以試試！

We were greeted by a hostess that asked if we had reservation. No, and she made clear that we would have 2 hours to eat and get out, obviously plenty of time. However, I added “it depends if the food doesn’t take longer to be ready”, a comment that apparently she did not appreciate… Food was good, we had salty cod and my son had the steak. Server was nice enough to give a larger glass of beer as they did not have the regular glass, and charged me the happy hour price. Place is decorated with fish-related stuff, very basic but interesting. Extensive if you weight food quality and price but I am suspicious as I am coming from one of the cheapest places in USA. And in Iceland the price game is in another level…

Very cozy place, seems to be inside an old ship, very nice, we tried some starterts and all of them were truly good, just the soup shall. have been a bit hotter than as served but nothing to complain about it's flavour.
Near the harbour, perfect after a whale tour!

I went here with my girlfriend. I ate the Arctic char and she had the beef burger. The atmosphere and serving were really good, the food came fast. But, the fish and the burger patty were neither seasoned. Luckily there were salt and pepper on the table. The fish was also served with the skin, which would not been a problem if the fish wasn't served upside down. I had to flip the fish pieces which was pretty hard on the small pan, and then apply my citron. Otherwise the food was really good. 4/5 stars.
