Our family of 4 stayed here for one night as we traveled around Iceland. Guesthouse Olga is clean and comfortable. We had a room with 4 beds upstairs. The bathroom facilities are shared. The house has been updated. The kitchen is shared as well. You can cook your own meals. It is a small kitchen so may get crowded with a lot of people. We met a nice family while making breakfast who was traveling from Puerto Rico. Next to the house is a terrific restaurant, so very easy to walk over for dinner and wine. You can choose to have breakfast included. The hosts will arrange it for you and place it in the refrigerator with your room number, ready for the morning. Pay attention to last time for check in on your confirmation. I would stay here again. It is also a 20 minute ride to Seydisfjordur, a cute town in a fjord of SE Iceland. Worth a visit

I confess a bias – I’m from British Columbia and accustomed to forests. After days of rock and lava (very attractive in their way) the surrounding trees, both conifer and deciduous, seduced me. I felt comfortable again to be amidst trees taller than me. I went for a late afternoon walk through Egilstaddir and was at home in a well-treed area with friendly people and gemütlich architecture. The guest house itself is gemutlich or pleasant and cheerful, particularly the host who gave us a warm welcome after a long drive. It was as comfortable inside as it looked from the outside. The rooms are of various sizes. We had two rooms here and both were pleasant – tidy, clean and well outfitted with a small fridge, table and whatever else you need but aren’t cramped. There is what you need to prepare a simple meal, but also a communal kitchen that guests can use. The bathroom is shared with towels and bathrobes provided. You can order breakfasts that are left in the fridge with the room number so you can get them the next morning. There is ample quantity and variety. We had stayed in some very well outfitted and more costly rooms in excellent hotels. This was a quiet, comfortable change augmented, from my perspective, by views of trees. We would certainly go back if in the area.

Gusthouse molto bella e ben tenuta. Le camere sono sufficientemente ampie e pulite. I bagni sono in comune ma sono in numero sufficiente per non creare problemi e sono puliti. Buona la dotazione di salviette e asciugamani. La cucina è dotata di tutto il necessario per poter cucinare. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo è molto buono rispetto agli standard islandesi. E' presente la connessione Wi-Fi gratuita. Consigliato.

Stayed here 1 night hoping to see the northern lights. Informed the owner as we were checking in and although all relevant information was already available in booklets in the rooms, he gave us tips of where to camp to see. Guesthouse was full but we managed to take turns to cook dinner tho we ate in one of our rooms as there were other people wanting to cook. Rooms are equipped with kettle, fridge, table and chairs according to the number of guests the room can fit. Guesthouse is clean and guests are asked to take off shoes in front which helps keep the place clean. Highly recommend Guesthouse Olga!!

Guesthouse Olga is a delightful guesthouse on a main residential street. We arrived within the designated time and a friendly host showed us to our room and pointed out the particulars. We booked the basement room that had a private toilet. There are several shower rooms for guests. We had a private area to make tea and prepare food. There is a well appointed common kitchen for the guesthouse which makes preparing breakfast or dinner convenient. There are maps and local information available. The guesthouse is right up the street from the East Iceland Heritage Museum and the thermal swimming pool. Very comfortable, clean and peaceful. I loved the emphasis on taking off shoes upon entering the house, it gave an insight to Icelandic traditions.

Una bella guesthouse con bella cucina a disposizione 6 camere e 3 bagni. Le camere sono molto pulite e comode. I bagni grandi e puliti. La guesthouse si trova in una buona posizione ed in 3 min so va ovunque .Consiglio la piscina pubblica con acqua termale a 40 gradi

Very nice little place to stay at.
The kitchen was a decent size, which also offered free tea and coffee.
The rooms were a good size. Our room even had a small fridge in it, table and chairs for us to eat our dinner at.
The bathrooms were kept very well. The hot water was good and the pressure was also decent.
There is ample parking out the front or across the road if needed.
Only thing worth mentioning is the floors and the door handles were a little squeeky. This made it a little noisy when people are moving around. Tho it's not really enough to deduct any stars from what was an enjoyable stay.

We had a comfortable stay arranged by a travel agent. The owner/manager met us, and also helped with dinner recommendations as we were not cooking. It was walking distance to the hotel on the lake where we had an awesome dinner. The packaged breakfast in the frig. was very good, one of the better breakfasts we had in Iceland- they're almost all cold continental breakfasts.
