This little place was our favorite that we've stayed along the ring road. We not only stayed here but we also went horseback riding with Dottie.

You must do both....it makes for the total experience.

The owner of the ranch. Came out running to greet us as we arrived and showed us around his place. You can see the pride that he has and his location and how well kept and clean it is..

We came with our son who really enjoys horseback riding and the wonderful room that they provided. It had ample space for us to put our suitcases and the room was impeccable. It probably was one of the largest rooms we've stayed along the route. We were able to put things in the fridge that we had also use the additional common areas if need be.

We wish we could have stayed longer because in the morning we were able to have a great breakfast with the sweet owners. We had another place to go along the Ring road otherwise we would have stayed another night. They were so welcoming and we felt so at home. We even gave hugs on the way up.

This is a must for any family who has children who love animals and loves the open air. The hospitality was above anything...did I mention you feel like you are family yet?

We will for sure be coming back but for a longer stay.

This was our favourite accommodation of our two week vacation in Iceland. The area is stunning, accommodations clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and it was lovely to chat with the family who are all welcoming and informative. We also did a horse ride which was amazing, felt safe and got to see some more of the beautiful area. I would highly recommend Skorrahestar!

My husband and I did a 1 hour tour here and had a great time as this was our first time ever riding a horse! The ride was very easy and the horses were super gentle. The views were phenomenal! Passing cows, wild flowers, and walking along the stream. The guide was very friendly and patient. She also gave educated us about Iceland along the ride.

The property also has baby lambs, Arctic fox pup, chickens, and bunnies. Additionally it was no problem to take pictures of the other horses in the pasture after our ride.

Una bellissima guesthouse immersa nella natura, stanza giusta per quanto riguarda le dimensioni dotata di bagno privato.

Si gode di una bella vista dalla finestra.

Colazione abbondante che spazia dal dolce al salato, lo consiglio come posto sia per chi é di passaggio sia per chi deve stare qualche giorno visto che hanno anche un maneggio di cavalli

Inoltre abbiamo scoperto che si stanno attualmente prendendo cura di un piccolo esemplare di volpe

We initially chose this place because we wanted to rest for a few days in an Icelandic farm, and have the chance to go horse riding.
What we had in the end is so much more. Our stay here is definitely one of the best memories we have of our journeys around Iceland.
First of all, the hospitality of Doddi and Thea was outstanding, they welcomed us like we were part of the family, and told us stories about the farm, the life in the fjord, and other ancient stories about a bygone Iceland.
The structure is excellent: warm, comfortable, with large rooms and breathtaking views basically on every side.
The breakfast is all homemade, with local ingredients, and it was delicious.
We really enjoyed our stay in Skorrahestar, we wish all the best to the family (and to the horses) and we really hope to come back here soon.
P.S. Do not miss the horse riding activities here, they are absolutely amazing!

Such an incredible experience. Doddi, Theodora and Siggi are wonderful people. We stayed in the large family bunk room for two nights in late September, had the place to ourselves, and got to spend some time riding horses and learning about this family while taking in a bit of Icelandic culture. The renovated barn guesthouse is just beautiful, and breakfast was delicious. This was such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Skorrahestar is an absolute dream. It is a beautiful property run by a beautiful and warm family. We chose this place initially for an Icelandic horse ride and took away so much more. The ride itself was incredible, from the carefully chosen horses to the amazing scenery and warm and knowledgeable family who guided us, everything was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and the visit and treats that followed were wonderful. The guesthouse has everything you need and is so warm and homey. There’s cards, a puzzle, kitchen - everything you need and more. Breakfast is included, we had to leave before it was served so the family made us delicious sandwiches with Icelandic pancakes to go. Perfect! This was our favourite part of our whole trip in Iceland.

What an incredible experience! My mother and I went on the 2 hour horseback ride together. It was hands down our favorite activity that we did in Iceland! The owners are so friendly and welcoming and the horses were fantastic! The crepes (pancakes) and coffee after the ride put the whole experience over the top! We got to sit on the family’s balcony and socialize with them after the ride while enjoying delicious homemade crepes and coffee! We honestly didn’t want to leave and they made us feel so welcome that we stayed for longer than we expected. The owners truly went above and beyond and we are so happy we had this experience.
